Charity you are representing and why?
Meningitis Trust and fund raising for the St James Hospital PICU in Leeds. My baby boy contracted Strep B Meningitis at 2 days old and was saved by the PICU in Leeds and I owe more to them that i can ever give. By donating to the Meningitis Trust I hope we can help in understanding more about it, prevent it, and help families in similar situations to what we found ourselves in 2008.
Why have you entered CRN Fight Night?
I needed motivation to lose some timber as since I stopped playing rugby I don't seem to have any problems putting on a few extra pounds. I thought this would be a great way to raise some cash and awareness around my chosen charities and an excuse for some of my customers to put their hands in their pockets!
Have you ever boxed before?
Only when fuelled full of beer in my younger days and it normally involved being arrested at the end of the night! I'm not proud of these days but most lads have done them!
How would you describe your boxing style?
Rough and unorthodox. My style has yet to be developed and I cannot say it will be very graceful however it will be direct and with 100% commitment.
What extra training have you been doing to achieve full fighting fitness?
Not as much as I should have however now I know I am in the fight I will throw myself into training and hopefully it will get easier for me as time goes on!
Have you picked a theme tune and if so, what is it and why?
It's a secret, it is a mixture of something that is close to my heart and also one of my favourite tunes to fire you up!
Which professional boxer (any era) do you think you could take on?
None!! Boxing is one of few sports where an athlete stands up on his own to take on another athlete and you cannot mess around or you get hurt. All professional boxers have something I hope to show which is commitment and a desire to win no matter how bad they are! If I could have had a choice I would have loved to knock out Prince Nazeem just for being big headed and thinking he was better than he was, he fought Barerra once, got his a*se kicked and never came back. To me it showed he was not indeed the greatest as he promoted himself but a coward. Everyone can lose its how you come back from it and he didn't have the heart to come back from it.
What words have you got for your opponent?
Lets make it entertaining, go for it as I will do and lets have a beer afterwards!
