Tom has been financially advising since 1981 and has been an IFA since the term
was invented. He leads the holistic financial planning, fee charging, City IFA,
Baigrie Davies at one end of the market and the UK's largest protection adviser,
LifeSearch, at the other. His campaign for advice and against non-advised buying
in financial services has steadily won over more and more key opinion formers in
the press, consumers' association and regulator. He believes that the latter's
new desire to see customers treated fairly provides advisers of all sorts with
the best opportunity to assert the customers primary need for advice over the
off-the-shelf selling of financial products that has, in recent years, grown in
market share while at the same time shrinking the overall market.
