Case Manager of the Year

Have you delivered unbeatable outcomes this year for your injured clients, in terms of return-to-work rates or recovery of pre-accident abilities? Do you continually exceed your employer’s expectations and objectives, sometimes against the odds? If so, you could be our next Case Manager of the Year.

Judges will be looking for evidence of first-class commitment, unmatched motivational skills and excellent, tangible results. Entries should highlight achievements against targets, innovative ways of working and provide brief supporting evidence or feedback from individuals impressed by your approach. This category is open to all case managers involved in rehabilitation.


Rehabilitation Initiative of the Year – Provider

Have you developed effective ways to overcome obstacles that were previously hampering the effective delivery of rehabilitation? What targets did you set yourself and how did you measure up? Entries should include a case study of the initiative or project in question, outlining the timescale, objectives, the parties involved and the scope of their involvement. Judges will be looking for a project that stands out by scale, scope or its fresh approach – with tangible results. This category is open to all UK rehabilitation service providers.


Rehabilitation Initiative of the Year – Employer

Have you boosted productivity by embracing rehabilitation as a means to cut costly sickness absence and improve the overall health of your workforce? How did you motivate those involved to buy into a project that has ultimately delivered on multiple levels? Entries should clearly demonstrate the benefits secured for both injured employees and the business. They should include a case study of the initiative or project in question, outlining the timescale, objectives, who was involved and in what capacity - plus the all-important results. This category is open to all employers operating in either the public or private sector.


Rehabilitation Initiative of the Year – Claimant solicitor

Has your dedication to maximising injured client recovery, by securing the most effective rehabilitation services available, resulted in new ways of working? Are you proud of mechanisms developed for dialogue and decision-making that ensure your clients reap rehabilitative rewards time and again? If so, we want to hear about them. Judges will be looking for commitment, innovation and measurable results. Additional credit will be given to those entries that can demonstrate successes secured through collaborative working and evidence how specific obstacles that could have impeded client recovery were overcome. This category is open to all personal injury lawyers who work on behalf of claimants.


Insurer Rehabilitation Initiative of the Year – Severe/catastrophic injury

Co-ordinating rehabilitation services for individuals that have suffered severe, life-changing injuries is understandably challenging, requiring insurers to carefully blend sensitivity and proactivity. Close working relationships with multiple parties are also essential if expectations for speed and extent of recovery are to be met and managed effectively. If you feel this is a challenge you have risen to, tell us all about it. Entries should include a case study of the initiative in question, outlining timescales, objectives, the parties involved and the scope of their involvement. Judges will be on the lookout for a fresh approach and tangible results. Additional credit will be given to those entries that can demonstrate successes secured through collaborative working. This category is open to all insurers.


Insurer Rehabilitation Initiative of the Year – Whiplash/minor injury

Have you cracked the cost-effective nut when it comes to the provision of rehabilitation for high volume, lower cost personal injury claims? Are you proud of the way you’ve proved the business case while ensuring those individuals suitable for intervention have received quick and capable care to prevent the development of chronic injuries? If so, tell us how. Entries should include a case study of the project or initiative in question, outlining the timescales, objectives, the parties involved and the scope of their involvement. Judges will be on the lookout for a fresh approach and tangible results. This category is open to all insurers.


Young Achiever of the Year

Has a member of your team exceeded all expectations when it comes to return-to-work rates, product or service development, positive mental attitude, a championing of the profession in the wider community and continuing professional development? We want to hear all about the industry’s rising stars. The judges will be looking for a clear demonstration of the individual’s contribution to their team or department over the last 12 months; evidence of a commitment to pursuing relevant professional qualifications; and detail of how they have championed rehabilitation to the wider market. All nominations must be made or supported by the individual’s departmental manager and this category is open to anyone working in the area of rehabilitation, aged 30 or under on 1 April 2009.


Outstanding Individual Achievement

Each year the judging panel hotly debates who has set themselves apart from their peers by the sheer weight and significance of their contribution to the UK rehabilitation industry. Arriving at a final decision is never easy. So who do you think is unrivalled in helping drive, develop and define the industry? Whose crusading efforts are unmatched? Nominations are welcomed in this category and should detail what makes the proposed individual an undeniable winner.

Previous recipients of this prestigious award include: Helen Merfield, chief executive of HMCL; Norman Cottington, president of the Bodily Injury Claims Management Association; Deborah Edwards, rehabilitation services director at Argent Rehabilitation and founder of RTW Plus; and Ashton West, chief executive of the Motor Insurers’ Bureau.
