The Rehabilitation First Awards is a brilliantly prestigious and popular event, now in its 6th year, and in 2010 the award ceremony will be celebrated at the Merchant Taylors' Hall on the 25th June 2010.
This lunch-time industry event is Post's most uplifting and heart-warming of them all. Identifying excelling individuals in the rehabilitation sector and highlighting their achievements, the Rehabilitation First Awards rewards excellence across the market – from employers to insurers, practitioners to claimant solicitors.
The past 12 months have seen the UK rehabilitation industry take great strides towards benchmarked best practice and professionalism. The first standards for the provision of clinical and vocational rehabilitation went live last May – aided by sizeable government cash injections. The UK Rehabilitation Council has since become a fully fledged membership body and authoritative voice for all stakeholders. And now a new code of practice – PAS 150 – will hit the streets next month, not to mention the government’s imminent introduction of its ‘fit note’ scheme and the Ministry of Justice’s reforms for low-value road traffic accident injury claims, both of which should further drive take up of medical and vocational rehabilitation. So, what better time to showcase and celebrate the tireless efforts, innovation and excellence of individuals and organisations in this sector?
Innovation underpins every fast-developing industry and rehabilitation is no exception. From the early days of Post’s campaign that were focused on simply raising awareness of what rehabilitation is all about, efforts have quickly moved to proving the cost-benefit argument and campaigning for best practice to be accredited.
And now - through these highly coveted awards - everyone can see how hard the UK's rehabilitation providers, practitioners and partners have worked to deliver inspired solutions to overcome the challenges they face. More importantly, as a result, more people are being returned to health and to work, reducing sickness absence and minimising the effects of accidents and illness on the lives of those affected.
So this is your time to be proud. These awards officially acknowledge the excellent work that companies and individuals are contributing to further the development of rehabilitation in this country. But remember, you have got to be in it, to win it.
