Stephen Oxley is a Managing Director at PAAMCO which is a specialist, institutional fund of hedge funds firm based in Irvine, California. He heads the European office in London. Prior to joining PAAMCO, Stephen was a partner and Senior Investment Consultant at Watson Wyatt, LLP in London, where he provided investment advice to a number of large pension fund clients. In addition, he was head of the hedge fund research team and took part in the management of the firm's investment practice. He is a frequent guest speaker at numerous European pension fund conferences and writes regularly in various industry publications. Stephen has over twenty years of investment management experience with institutional investors.

Mark joined HSBC Actuaries and Consultants Limited in 2001 and has advised employers, trustees and individuals on employee benefit and investment issues for 15 years.
A Diploma member of the Personal Finance Society and the Chartered Insurance Institute, Mark also holds the Investment Management Certificate awarded by the UK Society of Investment Professionals.
Mark heads the Employee Benefit proposition, HSBC Actuaries and Consultant’s team responsible for design, delivery and ongoing administration of Total Reward, Flexible Benefit and Voluntary Benefit solutions.

Andrew heads up the Horwath Clark Whitehill Pensions Group and is very active in the pensions community. He has written articles promoting good governance in pension schemes and has chaired and contributed to working parties at ICAEW, PRAG and NAPF. He was involved with the development of AAF 01/06, a new standard in the UK.

Ravi Rastogi joined Watson Wyatt in 2005 and currently has responsibilities in leading client relationships and developing bespoke investment solutions.
Through his career Ravi has been responsible for advising pension funds and other institutions on investment strategy, asset allocation, and manager selection. He has 14 years of financial sector experience, most recently concerned with developing practically accessible liability-aware investment solutions for pension funds.
A key part of this has been exploring how resource-constrained entities such as Trustee boards can extract much more value from both their advisors and their own capabilities, through the use of different governance models. Ravi graduated with a degree in mathematics from the University of Bristol and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries.

Will has over 14 years experience in advising on all types of DC arrangement.
This has included advising on and establishing new DC schemes for FTSE 100
employers, helping employers communicate DB closure and advising trustees and
employers on their DC scheme governance. He has recently advised two employers
on the establishment of DC schemes that will replace DB for new hires.
Will joined Watson Wyatt in 2006 as a specialist DC consultant. Prior to this,
Will worked with another consulting firm and his responsibilities included
advising Smith & Nephew on the establishment and ongoing design of a DC
scheme, and advice to Clifford Chance on the establishment and ongoing design of
a new contract based DC scheme, advice to trustees on the DC section of a trust
based scheme and advice to individual partners on their own arrangements.

Nigel Peaple is Director of Policy at the National Association of Pension Funds. He is responsible for a wide range of pension policy issues including the Government's proposals on pension reform, the future of occupational pension schemes, the regulation of occupational pension schemes and pension investment matters. Prior to this he worked on pensions and savings issues at the Association of British Insurers (ABI), including the Pensions Commission's proposals, the EU pensions agenda, and developing a joined-up approach to savings across the lifetime. While at the ABI he wrote two research reports on pension reform including, "UK Pension Reform: Lessons from Abroad?" (2005) and "European Pension Reform and Private Pensions" (2004). He also wrote a number of the ABI's submissions to the Pensions Commission and Parliamentary Select Committees. Previously he worked as the European Policy Manager at the ABI, as a Senior Consultant with a Brussels-based lobbying firm, and in the UK civil service.

Andy has 4 years experience with Prudential, having successfully implemented significant pension vesting transactions currently worth over £500 million per annum. Andy is currently responsible for innovation within the Defined Benefit market, developing new routes to market and led the transaction to secure £300m of pension liabilities from Goldman Sachs in July 2008.
Andy is a qualified actuary with, over 20 years experience in the UK insurance industry. He previously held senior strategic, finance and actuarial roles at AMP (Pearl, NPI, LL, Hendersons) and Virgin Money.

Ian is Head of DC Strategy and Governance at Legal & General Investment Management with particular responsibility for improving LGIM’s DC proposition and for managing the governance arrangements of LGIM’s client interface. In his role he was instrumental in driving forward the Straight Through Processing Initiative that has lead to an industry standard for the passing of electronic transaction instructions between investment managers and third party administrators. He is now endeavouring to leverage that experience into creating standards that might be used for transmitting performance and reporting data, and even member records.
He joined LGIM in 1996 and has over 40 years experience in retail and corporate pensions and investment markets. That experience was gained while he worked in the insurance and unit trust industries and at a merchant bank.

Iain Stewart joined Newton in 1985 as a portfolio manager. Iain is a senior member of our Strategy Team with particular responsibility for co-ordinating the development of our global investment themes.
He has worked for Newton for 22 years and during this time has specialised in
managing multi-asset and global equity mandates for pension fund clients.
Since 1992 he has been the manager of the Newton Exempt Fund (Newton’s flagship
in excess of £1 billion pooled balanced fund).
Iain graduated from East Anglia University with a PhD with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

Mark has 30 years experience in pensions, predominantly in outsourcing and administration systems. A well-known figure in the TPA market, Mark has chaired and spoken at many industry conferences as well as contributing regularly to the press.
He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development and is a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management. Douglas is a partner at Hymans Robertson, and is the inspiration behind the creation of Club Vita. He has recently past his tenth anniversary of joining Hymans Robertson, having previously spent the first ten years of his career performing ‘missionary’ work at the Government Actuary’s Department. Douglas’ consulting work has been very varied, with work both in the private and public sectors. He advised the Deputy Prime Minister on demographic changes in local government, and has an active interest in improving longevity risk consulting techniques. Douglas has had a life-long interest in ageing and long life. He says that it is in his blood, arising from his father’s influence as a pathologist.

Buchan has over 20 years experience in the corporate pensions arena. After graduating in Actuarial Mathematics, Buchan joined Buck Consultants as a pension consultant. During that time he was responsible for developing and servicing a portfolio of major UK and international companies and specialised in the migration and set up of in-house pension arrangements. After a short time with Punter Southall, Buchan then moved to Scottish Life to spearhead the business development of DC Solutions – the third party administration division.
Buchan is now part of Corporate Client Management team in the Corporate Solutions division of Standard Life. He is responsible for the development of the Standard Life Corporate Pensions Brand and Proposition and works with some of the UKs’ largest employers.
Outside of work, he climbs and cycles both home and abroad. Last year he cycled from Bangkok in Thailand, through Cambodia and then on to Saigon. The next trip will involve circumnavigating Cuba.
